A tragic accident occurred in the Mansa Devi Hills of Haridwar on Saturday when a young woman fell into a 70-meter-deep ravine while filming a social media reel. The victim, identified as 28-year-old Reshu from Muzaffarnagar, was visiting the famed Mansa Devi temple with her family.
Witnesses reported that she lost her footing on the uneven terrain and plunged into the gorge. Fellow tourists acted quickly to help, and she was initially taken to a local hospital. However, due to the severity of her injuries, Reshu was later transferred to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Rishikesh, where she is currently in critical condition.
A video that circulated on social media soon after the incident shows police assisting in transporting Reshu to an ambulance, surrounded by her distraught family members. This unfortunate event underscores the dangers associated with the popular trend of capturing selfies and social media reels in scenic but perilous locations.
Authorities have raised concerns about the risks involved in such activities, particularly near hazardous cliffs and swift river currents. The Mansa Devi temple, a key pilgrimage destination, attracts thousands of visitors each day, many of whom are drawn to its breathtaking views and often venture too close to dangerous areas for the perfect shot.
